Over 35 teenagers across the United States put their voices to use and created Since Parkland, which shares the stories of 1,200 American kids, each of whom lost their lives to a bullet in the past 12 months. The project serves as a reminder of the deadly nature of gun violence in the country.
New hope lies ahead for certain cancer patients: Doctors have discovered a new drug called Tisotumab Vedotin, which acts as a “Trojan horse” to get inside tumor cells and then release a toxic substance to kill the cells from inside. Patients with 6 different types of cancer have responded positively to the treatment, and the drug is moving into phase II trials.
Todd Holland, a UPS delivery driver in Ashe County, North Carolina, is being hailed as a hero: During a delivery route, Todd noticed that a package which he had delivered a few days ago was still outside the front door. Thinking that something was wrong, Todd began pounding on the door, only to realize that the door was already unlocked. Upon entering the house, he found the homeowner lying on the floor. Todd dialed 911 and waited until the paramedics came. Knowing that in a rural town like Ashe County, people often don’t see many people except the mailman, Holland followed his gut and saved a man’s life.
