Dreams were created to be achieved. We created our own dreams because we wanted to fulfill them. But, in today’s world, why do so many of us forget where our dreams are supposed to take us? We let the fast-paced nature of society take away our dreams; we let the expectations of society and the rush of societal norms take over our minds, and we forget our dreams. Rather than living each day with the purpose of achieving our dreams, we look at dreams as a place to escape to at night.
And, perhaps, this is our greatest mistake. Losing sight of our dreams is the start to spiraling into a trance where we wander without a purpose. Yet, I think there is hope within us all to stop ourselves from falling into a trance.
We need to remind ourselves, on a daily basis, about our dreams. We cannot let ourselves forget where we want to go.
The idea of bucket lists might seem dumb or naive, but maybe, it has a lot more power than we think. It has always been said that writing something down makes it more real, and it makes us more likely to remember it. So, why don’t we write down our dreams?
We’re all souls wandering this planet looking for a purpose. Why not start to find yours? We can’t give ourselves a purpose if we don’t know who we are deep inside. What we want to do, that is our purpose.
So, with the new year, inCon presents to you a challenge. Make an official bucket list. You can always add to it but start somewhere. Take your deepest desires and put them on a piece of paper. Write down your ambitions, goals, desires; the places you want to travel, the people you want to meet, the things you want to do. I challenge you to write down every wild idea you’ve had; find out where your deepest desires want to take you and find the truths about yourself. Once you make the list, write it down, take a picture, and post it with #bucketlists and tag @_inconsequential_. Then, put your list in your room. Keep it somewhere easy to find and look at it on the days you feel lost. The days you feel purposeless, look at this list. Written in the stars may be your fate, but written on paper is the destiny you’ve chosen to follow.
