Golden

Note from Jen:

I’m big on feelings and strangely attuned to what feels right in my life. In fact, everything comes back to the way it makes me feel. When I’m driving down the road, when I’m listening to a song, when I catch a glimpse of a place that could have its own story in my head, I make note of it all. Every setting, every scenario, every circumstance has its own ambiance, and they all speak to me.

Sometimes it’s a gift, and sometimes it’s a burden to feel this way, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything because it's the reason I'm conscious of all the moments that I’m living and even of some of the moments that I’m not.

#BroughtToLife is about creating fantasies that we’d like and would want to exist but that, in reality, don’t exist for us.

With imagery, with pictures, with manipulating the scenes and setting the tone, we create feelings and moments with our imagination, and we get to share in the possibilities that don’t belong to us and may never belong to us. But to do so even for just a little while, it’s enough for now.

So hold on to your confusion and doubt for just a bit longer, because if you scroll down, you'll find out for yourself.

I hope you enjoy.

GOLDEN

A sea of gold surrounds you: it’s before you, behind you, all around you. The sky is a breathtaking shade of blue. It’s a sunny, lazy day, and the fresh air feels perfect against your skin. The humidity is soothing, and the wind is playful. It lingers but seeks nothing in return, kind of like the best moments that you can remember of your life.

You feel invincible, safe, and inexplicably content as your fingers skim across the soft, fuzzy tips of golden wheat. The sensation comforts you, amazes you. It happens every time, and the warmth that courses through you makes your heart skip a beat.

It never gets old. THIS is your life. And this is your home:

It's your safe place. It's the place you can be you—just you. Sound too good to be true?

No one can tell, but it's an old home that your dad inherited and made new. Your grandmother grew up here. The tree beside the house was barely taller than her all those years ago.

The kitchen is fashionable but old-fashioned enough to feel timeless, classy.

Your bedroom is simple, chic, but you spend most of your time in your grandfather's study. The room doesn't fit in with the rest of the house. It's bold like you—a refreshing splash of color in a world of white.

Your FAVORITE place, though, is outside with your horses.

Around noon, your dad comes into the house and calls that lunch is ready. His surprise? A picnic. Who doesn't love a good picnic?

And in your family, picnics always warrant a pitcher of freshly squeezed lemonade.

After lunch, everyone gets busy with dinner preparations. Almost every night in summer, your family invites friends and family over for dinner in the backyard. Since today's your day off, you grab a book from the library and head over to the swing that your grandfather built ages ago. It's a bit of a distance from your house and the perfect place to be by yourself for a while.
